RGVN: SHG Meeting held at Pahari JFMC
Weekly meeting of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at the Prahari Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC), under Dhemaji Division was held recently.
The meeting was conducted by PISA (Project Implementation Support Agency) as part of the Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity Conservation (APFBC), which is supported by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Assam government. The APFBC aims to promote sustainable forest management practices and enhance the livelihoods of forest-dependent communities.
Social Institution formation and its strengthening is imperative to build long term benefits. It will be important to bring the target population of the Forest fringe communities under a uniform structure for seamless interventions under the project and for forming production units, as it aims at economic upliftment of the community.
RGVN is committed to working with the Assam government and other stakeholders to ensure the success of the APFBC and to contribute to the conservation of Assam’s rich forest biodiversity.
