Assam Flood 2022 & Flood Relief Programme – RGVN in association with and support from AZIM PREMJI Foundation (APF):
This year’s floods in Assam have been merciless. The Floods have widely damaged the houses, farm lands, schools, bridges and road links across Assam. Lakhs of people have been affected and thousands of families are forced to take shelter on schools, highways and temporary relief camps.
In many places, people failed to save standing crops. Granaries were damaged and mud houses were filled with sand brought by the rivers in spate. The need for food, drinking water and medical assistance is enormous.
But amid these dark times, several NGOs have come forward to offer support to the people, and together with government organizations, these organizations have ensured that relief reaches as many people as possible.
In Morigaon district “Flood Relief Progarmme” has been started from 07/07/2022 with fund support from Azim Premji Foundation (Rs.27.45 lakhs). A total of 10 villages and 2745 flood affected households to receive relief aids (food and hygiene essentials) under the support.
