Assam Flood 2022
On 21/06/22 our staff’s involved in the Moi Pragati Project managed to visit one of the sakhis named Sunti Das from Uttar Dharamtul village during a cluster meeting. Her house was submerged under water and the condition of the house was very bad. The water had already damaged the back side of the house and her family had to take shelter in a temporary shed near the main highway.
This year’s flood has affected over 55 lakh people across 32 Districts. People are facing acute shortage of drinking water and electricity. Houses are submerged under water. Access to medical supplies and other basic amenities has become challenging due to water-clogged roads. Recent floods in Assam have taken a toll on sanitation facilities in the affected areas with toilets submerged, making it difficult for women and girls to manage.
RGVN and many other NGO’s together along with Government Institutions are working hard day and night for Flood Relief.
