Artistic handloom and textile cluster, Bihdia, Kamrup (R), Assam
The artistic handloom and textile cluster, Bihdia includes 310 beneficiaries under a registered co-operative society. The common facility center will have weaving related machineries which will benefit all the artisans. Besides common facility center another 150 no of looms will be distributed among the beneficiaries.
The objectives of the project is to provide support for the long term sustainability of the traditional industries, artisans and rural entrepreneurs. To generate employment , enhance marketing infrastructure by new product design and packing. To equip artisans with improved skills and capabilities through training, exposure visit and launching E-commerce platform for artisans etc.
The outcome of the project is that it will help the artisans as well as rural entrepreneurs. They will be able to upgrade their weaving with new designing and open up the marketing sector for them. Eventually improving their livelihood.
