One of the active sakhis of Darrang District, Assam, Mrs. Sabita Devi joined Moi Pragati during the first phase of the programme. She initially used to receive money as per the the number of financial awareness meetings, she conducted. Before becoming a sakhi she was dependent on her husband’s income and did no sort of income generating activity at all.

But now, after becoming a sakhi, she has also been able to contribute to the family’s finances. She earns an amount of almost Rs.2500 every month. Moreover, she has become a motivation among the fellow women of her neighborhood, who have also come forward seeing her. Apart from conducting awareness meetings, now she is also involved in associating women to open bank accounts, pan cards, LIC policies and various government schemes.
